Fireplace Ideas

Hello friends!

I don’t know about you, but I am SO over it being cold and snowy!!! I have always wanted live in Southern California with a sunny mild climate, but I’ll never be able to drag my other half over there…. ugh….

In effort to stay warm, I thought I’d give you all some fireplace renovation ideas. Now, most of these steer more modern, but trying to share ideas that you may not often see in your insta feed…. Take a peek below.

Starting more vintage and traditional here—— this ornate stone fireplace is amazing— I would just die to have something as beautiful as this in my home. And what’s even better is nothing hung above it, so the fireplace can be the star.

This fireplace is FIERCE! Cold rolled steel, concrete slab, all against a nice white wall. While the colors here may not be ‘warm’, this definitely won’t go out of style anytime soon…

Woah,… woah woah woah. When I saw this, my first thought was is it a hotel, main lodge of a cozy inn??…. But nope, this is a home! That is a massive massive piece of stone in the center! I have no idea where they sourced the stone for this, but a crane must have lifted it in! And love the burl coffee table set in front—- burl of any wood is my all time favorite!

What’s great about this style of fireplace is that you can experience it on all 4 sides—- not just the front side which is the standard. This pairs excellently with this Japanese style home.

I looooooove the work by Olsen Kundig. I became familiar with them when I lived in Seattle, and have remained hooked on tracking their success even now being back on the east coast. When people ask me what my personal design style is, I always say I aspire it to be a mix of Kelly Wearstler meets Olson Kundig. Their work is clean and simple—- which actually is the hardest type of design to achieve successfully—- seriously!!!!!!

I know I know, me again with Yellowtrace. But the projects they feature are so out of the box!!! So many blogs I follow just show different versions of the same thing, but somehow Yellowtrace seems to find things that no one else has ever done! They just used a basic mantel, but contrasted it with an aged plaster finish— mixing a very very old and weathered look with something that could be out of a spec house. Put some orange velvet chairs in front with a Platner Table and you have yourself something extra special!

Honestly, I could keep going here, but no one wants to read a super long blog so I’ll spare you for now! Happy Hump/Wellbeing Wednesday everyone!

xoxo—Ann
